1-Slowburner

A Slowburner torch has been enchanted so that instead of going out in about twenty minutes it can burn for up to twenty four hours before it goes out. Those torches that are seen in dungeon computer games are most likely Slowburners.

2-Darkness Torch

These are used by those who want to sleep by day but need darkness to do so, and when lit they provide darkness instead of light. They can also be used like sunglasses in very bright sunlight, and vampires who would otherwise be damaged or even destroyed by direct sunlight can go out in the sun holding one of these without being harmed as long as the torch is still alight. In enclosed spaces they make it pitch black, outside they make it pitch black in shadow or darkness, and dim in broad daylight.

4-Contains Undead

Used in morgues, churches, and places like the entrances to crypts, the holy light from these torches burns ghosts and the Undead on contact. Lesser , weaker Undead cannot enter their light, and even medium Undead are generally held back. Greater Undead take damage but can force their way through the barrier of light.

5-Warmth Torch

Meant for use in cold climates, the warmth from one of these is like the warmth from a fire in a grate.

6-Cool Torch

Meant for use in hot climates, the flame from one of these torches cools instead of providing heat. Morgues use them to keep dead bodies fresh for viewing longer, kitchens use them for keeping food fresh longer and they can be used as air conditioning. Rather then burning flesh it’s flames cause frostbite.

7-Singing Torch

These are enchanted to sing when lit, and can be used as your world’s equivalent of CDs and useful torches at the same time. Once a factory producing these caught on fire and the resulting babbling of dozens of different songs kept people up all night for miles around until the fire brigade finally managed to put the fire out.

'FIRE!!'

Summer may be winding down (in most places), but the fires of imagination still burn bright.
Thousands upon thousands of years ago, role-playing was invented by our ancestors. Long before the first wheel rolled down a hill, and long before the first loaf of bread was sliced, early humans sat around their caves regaling each other with tales of gods, creatures, heroes and villains, and entertaining themselves with impersonations, play-acting, and role-reversals. All this was made possible by the roaring FIRES inside their caves, which warmed their bodies, roasted their meats, and shone light on their faces.

This month we celebrate FIRE and Role-Playing!

'The Quest revolves around the element of FIRE. Water, Air, and Earth need not apply.
Items, Locations, NPCs, or Plots. All are welcome as long as FIRE is involved! Don your asbestos suits and enter with us, into the all-consuming inferno that is this month's Quest!'

15XP for each submission with 100XP for 1st and 50XP for second.
