Unexpected Weapons

Albatross Crossbow

A grotesque sight, the albatross crossbow begins as the rotting stinking corpse of a dead albatross which is taxidermied to retard rot. The bird is finished so that it's wings are spread and the beak poised open as if in a defiant final squawk. This covers the fact that the wing bracings are the arms of the crossbow and the weapon is loaded by pushing the bolt into the mouth the dead bird until it sets properly. The springing mechanism is hidden largely in the body of the bird, but can only be fired once, drawing back the bowstring is an arduous task that requires partial dismantling of the bird.

Albatrosses are considered bad luck, so most superstitious folk steer clear of a filthy street monger staggering about with his foul smelling fowl, and guards are likely to overlook the bird as a possible weapon...at first. By squeezing the legs together, the bolt can be fired. This is most often done as a mode of assassination, public or otherwise. Most people overlook the kook with the dead bird when someone gets shot.

Rabbit Bomb:

This simple device looks like a ordinary Rabbit Pelt, but it is actually designed to be a explosive suprise. When fire is applied to the fuse (that is barely visible in the mouth) you have about Five Seconds to thrown the bomb before it explodes in a big furry mess. A variation of this design is the White Rabbit, a smoke bomb invented by an Assassin who often pretends to be a simple hunter. Of course, other animals could be used. Such as Squirrels, Frogs, Badgers (Heh, Badger Bomb), or Ducks. I suppose it could also be used in extreme hunting as a decoy... But that's kinda sick...

Blowing up live animals.. tsk, tsk...

Fish-Blade

Much like your classic Switch-Blade, except the blade is concealed in a fish. Usually one decent-sized bait fish in a bucket of other bait fish, this is an easily drawn weapon (But not so easy to hold onto). The slipperiness of the fish makes this item difficult to wield for long, but since all you have to do is squeeze the fish for the blade to come out it is very good at making a quick throat slash.

Whip Snake. This magically enchanted item appears to be a normal, well worn whip. However, its tip is as hard as adamantine and is strikingly keen. Whenever the Snake Whip successfully strikes a foe's vital area, a concealed magical snake erupts from the end and latches onto the foe.

Vampiric Monstrous Toad Zombie Bomb. This sickly undead and strangely inane creature can be easily manipulated if properly tamed. Once tamed, the toads vampiric mind can be commanded to desire the designated foe's blood. The toads simple mind cannot resist the temptation, and will immediately seek the foe or die trying. Once the toad strikes, its innards will explode, covering foes in rotten blood and bile. This has no inherant effect, unless foes are allergic to vampiric zombie gore, other than to severely disgust. The older the toad, the greater the effect. Affected persons' status is changed to vomiting. The trick is properly taming one, for these toads are highly volatile and may detonate during training.

The Folding Sword

This rare thin bladed rapier has interesting ability to fold lengthwise without breaking many times and remain almost paper thin. Very light, almost too light to wield, it requires special training to use properly but it the trademark weapon of the Origami Assassins.

The Tattoo Dagger

This long pointy dagger, when pressed to the flesh and with the proper command word, will merge with your skin and appear as a black dagger silhouette.

Spring-Knife Boot

This nom-magical boot, usually paired with another boot (just so it looks like you're wearing a normal pair of boots), contains a spring loaded blade that pops out near the toe when you step down a cetain way or push a button on the side of the boot. Sometimes people even wear two Spring-Knife Boots... However, this is not neccesary as you can only attack with one foot at a time... normally...

Alchemy Blade:

This items takes the form of a lead marble when not in use. But it has the power to turn into any type of sword that the wielder has seen,He just needs to "will it" and it will change.When it changes form it looks likes turns into liquid metal. Then it spreads into the shape of the blade the wielder wants. The only down side to this weapon is it always weights more then a normal weapon of that type would.

Assassin's Sticks

These appear as ordinary jade chopsticks, the type one would find in a fine restaurant of the Orient. They're even engraved with little geometric designs. In secret, these designs hide the fact that the lower three-quarters of the sticks are removable sheathes that house long, poisoned needles. With a quick flick and a thrust, such a needle could find itself in the heart of an unwanted rival, assuming one could get close enough.

Thug Ring

The Thug Ring appears to be a large ornate signet ring, but it contains a tiny spring loaded spike tipped wit a deasly poison, triggered off when a hidden panal in the side of the ring is pressed. Depending on the poison, the ring can kill, sedate or just leave a nasty infected wound.

War Fan

This delicate looking oreiental fan actually houses razorsharp steel tips that are effective for close range comabt or throwing (in a pinch). They are often used by in a beatiful dance of blood and death.

Sword Cane/Umbrella

Pretty self-explanatory. A true classic. A simple blade hidden inside an umbrella or cane.

Banjo Blade

Classic spring-loaded bayonet blade on the end of an instrument, typically a string instrument with a neck and an extra string. When the extra string is plucked, a blade will stick out, variations include firing darts or squirting acid.

ZUCCINI OF SMITING!

A favorite weapon of those who disguise as peasants. It is treated as a normal heavy mace and does not rot. Mages are still mystified that this squash can be enchanted and stops aging.

Monkey Bits

Take one monkey,drain it's blood.Necromancer casts minor(Enchant corpse)spell.Monkey can be torn into about 13 bits that can be thrown as hand axe. Use quickly(7 days).

A Stacking Bag for Coins

This is a small, thin, narrow bag for coins, about the width of a man's palm long, with a small drawstring. If coins are actually placed inside of it, they must be in a long stack. Other things can be kept in a stacking bag; rune coins, travel tokens, city script coins, and sometimes just Dwarven Steel Slugs.

This is a fantasy equivalent of a roll of quarters. You make a fist around them and the added mass makes your punch/ strike much harder (small brass nuckles). It is a completely deniable "weapon", as you just happen to have your coins in your hand when the fight broke out, and lets face it real weapons were probably drawn.

Yes I know this was also posted in the Barfight Scroll and in and a Ten Foot Pole, but it is correct for this scroll as well.

A simple folding fan

Small hand fans have been used for centuries. When the fan is composed of a sturdy material such as wood or bamboo, a warrior is never unarmed, even when he leaves his sword at the gate. The fan (folded, of course) can be used to strike an opponent in a variety of ways:

• Sidestepping a rushing opponent and swinging the fan at their face. The opponent jerks their head back while their feet keep moving, resulting in them on the floor. Actually impacting the fan causes the same result, just with more pain for the attacker.
• Alternately, the fan can simply be held point-first at a rushing attacker. The same result can be attained, or at minimum put the attacker off-guard enough to let you close for a grapple of some sort.
• If trained and skilled enough, the fan can be used to strike various nerve centers in the arms, neck, and other places. Don't forget the eyes either.

Folding fan of blades

Yes, I know that there are already 2 folding fans in scroll, but seriously, if you ever seen a Chinese kung-fu flick, folding fans are just below Umbrellas in the number of times they are used.

This weapon resembles a simple ladies's fan (you know, the ones with cloth covering and lace on the end.) However, when the fan is handled in a certain way, a spring loaded tube is triggered, sending a small needle flying from the tip. The needle is commonly poisoned for greater lethality. Other variants include those with needle-tubes between every support strut to be used like a shotgun, because, you know, if enough is good, more is better, and those that fire spells when triggered. Just be sure never to trigger it accidentally when using it to cool yourself.

Fingernails of steel

These appear much like fake fingernails, only that these particular ones are made of steel and edged on one side. Perfect for acting like a cat and gorging someone's eye out. Make a 'catfight' joke at your own peril. Retractable variants placed on gloves are also available, in case you don't want to leave scratches on everything you touch.
