Named after the systems ill-fated first explorer, few realize that the Moderatus Systems planets hide threats that few space explorers could imagine, much less understand. Despite the systems status as an Interdicted Zone, renegades and lawless adventurers regularly evade the halfhearted interdiction patrols, drawn by the promise of alien artifacts and technologies. Some few unfortunates find these things; some of them are even lucky enough to simply be killed.
Commander, were receiving radio-frequency signals from the first, third, and fourth planets in the system. I cant make them out: They dont conform to anything in our database. Isnt this system supposed to be uninhabited?
The Moderatus System has two marginally habitable planets, each one bearing the signs of an advanced alien culture that inhabited the system eons before. In addition to the two planets within the "life zone" of the star, five other planets and two asteroid belts are visible to sensors.
