The Boots of Storms
These boots are an item that complements Siren no Orakio's Item submission 'Shards of the Storm'. This is a quest submission.
Full Item Description
These boots are worked from Steel. They are blue and grey in color, and have silver forks of lightning inscribed on them.
History
Jonard the Viking King strode into battle. Each footstep crashed with the sound of thunder echoing through the chamber of the Gods.
Jonard was a legend. He had survived all of his friends in battle. His speed was unmatched by any. It was said that he was so fast that he could outrun the horses charge. That he could leap over the heads of an army ten men thick to cleave the head off of the enemy general. That he could walk up walls.
These of course were just legends about him. Tales carried by word of mouth. These tales however, were all true.
This day was a good day to die. It was raining hard, thunder could be heard in the distance, although not from him, and he could think of no better place to die by the edge of a sword, in this, the valley of blood.
As he drew his sword, he felt funny. Something was different. The hairs on his body stood on end all at once, and it was not until he reached the after life, that he realized that he had died not in battle, but by the stroke of lightning crashing down upon him.
Magic Properties
These boots have been combined with a Shard of Storms. Although being made from steal, they are lighter than a feather to wear.
Upon taking a step with these boots, they emit the sound of a thunder clap, although the sound is not as loud as a real one. Running creates the sound of a dull roar and a crash of force similar to that of a Sonic Boom.
Furthermore, they can grant the wearer the power of the fierce winds, causing him to have short bursts of incredible speed, as well as the ability to jump impossible distances.
Also, the boots can latch onto the electrical force in any object, and bond with them, allowing the wearer to walk up walls, or stand on ceilings effortlessly.
There is, however, one drawback. the boots are supernaturally conductive. All lightning spells cast against somebody wearing these will take more damage from them, and all lightening spells not cast at him, have a one quarter chance of being redirected to hit the person wearing the boots. Lastly, all lightning that strikes even remotely within the area always strikes the shoes, and anybody wearing them.
First Official Quest 12 week long quest with 10XP award per post. To get things really started here on new Strolen's I dug into the archives and recovered Siren no Orakio's old request for fresh ideas on the Shards of the Storm. The quest is as follows: What non-weapon can you make of the Shards of the Storm? Who among us can craft the most ingenious idea spawned from Siren's old masterpiece? Originally posted by Siren no Orakio:
Some time ago, I posted up the Shards of the Storm. In essence, they are fragments of a goddess's essense, containing a piece of the driven fury of the concept of the Storm. Much of their purpose, from a GMing point of view, is to provide a common thread for items of power. So? So, so far I have only been able to come up with two not-weapon items to make out of these, and I'd like to see what better minds than mine can do with them.

Good Job. The showes were the first thing I thought of, but you got here first.
Certainly a novel idea, but I do image that wearing a pear of metal boots would be very uncomfortable. Wearing a pair of steel-toed shoes is a pain in the rear as it is. I like the electrical weakness of the boots, especially the part of drawing in naturally occuring lightning. Worthless for a thief, with all the crashing and booming.
I could see some tragic hero barrelling into the close ranks of his enemy, the sky heavy and brooding. He is being battled, overwhelmed by numbers even with the booms of the boots. Then the main villain closes with him and defeats the hero. As he yanks his serrated blade out of the dying hero, he notices the shiny boots.
The next moment, a lightning bolt crashes down, killing hero, villain, and many others nearby. The event is viewed as divine intervention by the Hero's allies, inspiring them to surge forth and route the enemy.
