Seyeverasin, the Waning-Moon Musicians
The Seyeverasin are supernaturally excellent musicians- no other can play a cello as well as them, and when the moon wanes, one may hear their haunting phantom strains echoing about night-time mountain cliffs, by dark pools, and in places where mortals no longer go or have never gone.
Seyeverasin, in Bastard Demontongue, comes from the Demontongue shzhvyer'siim, 'moon-players'. They are the sons of the demon Itzhi Pezh, the Man In The Moon, and because they have angered him, they appear only when he has turned his face aside.
Seyeverasin are tall, thin, and mahogany-skinned, with the handsome looks of a Summer Lands prince. Their eyes are pale blue, like the moon reflecting on water, and are eerily bright even in dark places. On each hand they have twelve long, exquisitely delicate fingers with too many joints to be human. They cannot speak, because they have no tongues, but if they must communicate, their body language and hand gestures are preternaturally communicative, as if they were speaking. All Waning-Moon Musicians wear thin kilts of a pearly, gossamer cloth through which their otherworldly genitals are clearly visible.
Itzhi Pezh, the Man In The Moon, fathered 341 of the Seyeverasin when he descended to look upon the sleeping Z'hazhmietyokh'hisht, the Feather-Clad Empress of Unrestrained Passions. Awaking to find the Man In The Moon watching her, Z'hazhmietyokh'hisht cast off her gossamer sleeping robe and made love to him. He was so surprised that he struck her, and the drops of blood which fell from her lip formed the Waning-Moon Musicians. Itzhi Pezh became angry, for in Hell one must pay a tax of 1,000 anguished screams to Its Shadowed Resplendency for each progeny one sires- to this day, Itzhi Pezh is still angry, for he has still not collected enough screams to pay the tax. Thus, whenever the Man In The Moon sees one of his hated children, he destroys it with a ray of moon-lightning. To avoid his angry gaze, the Seyeverasin come out only when Itzhi Pezh has turned his face aside from the world; this is why they are called the Waning-Moon Musicians. The Seyeverasin are supernaturally excellent musicians- no other can play a cello as well as them, and when the moon wanes, one may hear their haunting phantom strains echoing about night-time mountain cliffs, by dark pools, and in places where mortals no longer go or have never gone. If they discover that their playing is being listened to by mortals, they take up their playing-bows as weapons and attack with blinding speed while they weep in shame at having been heard, for they believe that they play very poorly. Seyeverasin fear the darkness cast by tree-shadows and are repulsed by roots, which they fear will grow up into their smooth dark flesh. Thus, they are rarely seen in places of verdant vegetation or where there are many trees.
Their music has the power to cause any who hear it to become mesmerized, and the captured aftertones of their celloes can be inverted to make painful dissonance which slays even the strongest of men. Their blood is a deadly poison which has no cure- it causes those who ingest it to be burned by moonlight.
Seyeverasin enjoy drinking great quantities of watered-down red wine, flavored with butter and saffron. In addition, they are delighted by the sound of a rough stone scraping across bare muscle, especially human muscle. They cannot resist a gift of a cello, especially one which has been oiled with blood or bile.

Weirder, less demonic, less angry than the Lavas... Maybe less successful? I don't know.
I actually like these a tad better...Unique!
More interesting then the Lavas.
well, that was unexpected. I really like the payment of 1000 anguished screams to Its Shadowed Resplendency, and the vengeance of the now diabolical Man in Moon.
I have not yet found a boring submission from Captain Penguin. This one is sutiably odd and mythic.
