Lavas, the Raging Ones
The Lavas are animalistic warrior-demons who converge in packs like lice on the inconceivable walls of Hell, filled with inconceivable fury and berzerk bloodthirst.
The word lavas, which is both singular and plural, is Bastard Demonspeak (a bastardized combination of Demonspeak and Atlantean which sorcerors utilize to converse with demons), and comes from these creatures’ actual name in the language of demons, tjhazhv’s, which means “one having/containing rage” or “raging one”.
Lavas stand about 6 feet tall, on average, and have thick, heavy limbs and stocky bodies covered in shimmering golden scales with sharp serrated edges which constantly scrape against each other, making an angry clatter which the Raging Ones use to speak. Their heads emerge directly from their shoulders and resemble thorny piles of sharp golden flakes with three smouldering pairs of crimson eyes. They have no mouths. Their backs are surmounted by huge, fin-like golden wings.
The filthy claws of Lavas are deadly poisonous, and they sharpen them every day on the shouts of furious warriors. Their glances can cause small objects and creatures to burst into flame. Focusing too long on the clattering golden scales of Lavas can cause one to become mesmerized, for they are polished with the stolen beauty of young harlots.
The Lavas are animalistic warrior-demons who converge in packs like lice on the inconceivable walls of Hell. Because their masters, the Hjhaztyakujhihesh’mish-Ahjnujh, the 19 Lords Clad In Lightning, have denied them the love of their demonic wives, the hzhetyukshaazh’s, the Inviting Spider Ones, the Raging Ones are constantly angry and raging. The eldest among them have become so angry at lacking the sinuous sexual attentions of their wives that they are no longer even intelligent, and behave as horribly powerful animals. However, most Lavas channel their rage into becoming terribly skilled warriors, and a single Lavas can slay entire divisions of crack troops simply by swooping overhead and shedding its razor-sharp scales. Raging Ones greatly enjoy killing, but, strangely, they fear rotting and dead things, and flee from battlefields and graveyards as soon as they can (or as soon as they are finished killing).
Lavas love the taste of warm corn-paste, especially if flavored with blood, and it is with these sacrafices, as well as paintings and tales of their wives, that they can be appeased. Lavas do not have individual names- they are referred to, in Bastard Demontongue, as yshalcas, “honorable one”.
