A common sight in the markets of Falhath, a Boustefailler is a cart cook, complete with a rolling kitchen that moves from corner to corner, from plaza to plaza. They provide quick hot meals of fried foods and heated breads for a respectable cost.
The Kitchen Cart
A cart is a large affair, but they are made to be pulled by a single person, most likely the cook who is to use the cart. within the cart are the stores of provisions that the cook will use during the day. Most of the vegetables are strung up ristra style from stringers on the cart's canvas roof. Meats and such are stowed in compartments to keep insects and away. The heart of the cart is the fryer, a wok like metal dish with a burner compartment under it. The compartment is fed coal to keep it hot enough to cook on, but the coal offers the advantage of being smaller in size than a comparative amount of wood.
The Guild
Originally the Boustefaillers were individuals with home made carts and they wandered from place to place, selling food to pilgrims heading to the holy sites and shrines. Others set up their rolling stalls in markets and bazaars, finding good business selling courge stir-fry and criard rice to busy merchants. Problems arose when one or more of these Boustefailles decided to stake out the same area. Fights between knife and cleaver armed cooks became a minor problem.
The larger problem was the fact that many places were being swarmed by the cooks and their fry carts, prompting some officials to ban the carts and have the city guards escort the cooks and carts out of the disputed area. Those who resisted had their tampa wood carts smashed and their goods scattered.
It was not long before the Guild was created. It helped to arbitrate who got which places to sell their goods, but it also helped end disputes with enflamed city officials. With the Guild in place, carts no longer swarmed locations en masse, which allowed the city officials to direct their attention elsewhere. The guild also set standards for building carts, so that cart fires were less common, and less spoiled meat was being served.
Plot Hooks, or what passes for them...
While a rolling kitchen and local cook might not seem to be the heart of an adventure, they can certainly be a part of one. Tired of the same old hustling barkeeps for information? The Boustefaillers travel quite alot, though within a certain area. They know the good and bad places, where the thieves are, and where the nobles dont like commoners and rolling kitchens to show up.
It is also the fantasy equivalent of fast food, as compared to going to an inn/restaurant/tavern for the meal of the day. It is also cheaper than said affairs, and much more simple. Instead of some roast thing with stuff, the PCs might stop and talk with Uppio the Boustefaille about what has been going on with the local prince who has mysteriously taken up odd habits while chowing down on some chicken stir fry wraps.

Yum-a tasty idea.
Quite generic until you hit the plot hooks, and show what services these seemingly insignificant groups can offer to a game world, besides a little local colour. Good work.
This is an excellent tidbit to add to any world. Nicely done. Now I'm hungry.
