VendoMat Corp (VMC)
VendoMat is a vending machine and dispensary supply corporation, one of just many
Purpose:
VMC is an extension of OmniCorp Products of the Great Lakes Republic and has as its main purpose the servicing and filling of vending machines, automats, and food dispensaries across its corporate domain.
Agenda:
Service
VMC techs have the most basic job of refilling emptied machines, which ranges from refilling Chrome! energy drink machines with fresh new holographic cans, replacing the nutrient slurry packs in food dispensaries (ranging from the size of a large ammo can to as large as a five-gallon carboy, a large square jug), to repairing damaged machines, lighting systems, and the like.
Security
VMC is serious about protecting its customers and preventing theft. The automats and vending machines have anti-theft technology ranging from basic alarms, to TASER deterrents, and in the worst of the worst locations, automated defensive weapon systems. These kiosks are scattered across the wastelands creating ironic oases where there are shining vending machines and a pristine building in the middle of what was once a city, with ceramosteel panel walls, solar power systems, and defense courtesy of maser point defense weaponry, autoguns, and drones.
While well beyond the borderline of ridiculous, these oases are a marketing and sales point for VMC, featured in their commercials and adverts, and the installations are real. Traveling mercenaries, corpos, and other people consider visiting a VMC Oasis Stop (replacing truck stops in popular culture) as almost like a pilgrimage. There are thirty-seven VMC Oases between Delta City in the GLR and New Orlando in the Confederation of Southern States, and several have grown into literal tourist destinations, while others are islands in a DMZ.
Sustainability
VMC is all about maintaining profitable locations, and all of its food dispensary operations are state-subsidized. The Oases are likewise benefactors of multiple state subsidies.
Leadership:
VMC is a subsidiary corp of the Greater OCP portfolio and is part of its vertically integrated superstructure. The corp has a three-person Board that oversees operations, and this breaks down into thirteen administrative districts within the GLR. Each district has a panel, a district director, and then for every ten resupply teams, there is a supervisor team.
Membership:
Approximately 1200 employees, and another 300 administrators, support personnel, and specialists.
Resources:
Delta Manufacturing Group - durable goods arm of OCP manufactures machinery
OmniConsumables - food synthesis and production filling nutrition cells
Weller Security Consulting - security, armaments, and other preventive technologies and additional support
Boddicker Investment Group - paramilitary assets
GLRS Robert B. Morton - OCP Richard Jones class frigate (commercial airship) operated under the joint jurisdiction of VMC, Boddicker, and Weller. The ship is used for publicity tours, and providing emergency support for VMC operations, typically pulling VMC assets out of a danger zone while providing air cover and corp marine support.
Manifesto/Creed:
VMC doesn't have one. If there was a corp that was fully intended to be run like gray faced NPC wojaks, its VMC.
Logo/Colors
Light ghost gray, white trim accents. VMC with a circle around the letters.
Uniform is also light ghost gray with white trim, and a VMC patch on the chest, no name but a cogni-code so that the machines and sensors can read the tag and the biometrics of the technician to allow access.
Hooks
The Vending Machine Insurgency - a VMC team is actually a terrorist cell and use the movement of their vehicle as a mobile base, filling machines and distributing cyber-viruses, facilitating clandestine communications and smuggling, and even carrying out actual attacks against the system and those dependent on it and its abuses.
Long Haul - after thwarting a robbery at an oasis, a VMC driver becomes the target of a cross country chase, where he has to keep filling machines while raiders try to kill him. Corporate is amused and consider if they should give him a raise, or fire him.
