The Kingmakers, Session 1
Old Man Morano arrives in the town of Pyrim to collect all my players together and make them do stuff...
Play started in the town of Pyrim. My players did a decent job of throwing themselves into the town's normal activity, until Morano offered free drinks at a local tavern...
Some players have shown some in-character resistance to going, which is being artfully defeated by Morano.
Before the blacksmith can answer, he smiles. 'Although actually, something tells me the chance at some wine from the castle's wine cellar could go a long way to helping you along. I know just the vintage you might enjoy, they call it Camel's Hump, a variety pressed from rare desert oasis grapes. Extremely hard to get, but quite good.'
The discussion continued for quite a while as the players tried their best to convince their PC's that they should continue to lead boring drab lives. Additionally, certain PCs have some... friction. One is manaphobic- and there's a mage. The other was captain of the guard and there's a thieving bard...
So yeah, this group is going to be a bit more rowdy.
Following morning, a bard is doing his work:
THE KING LIES DEAD!
Ruz, the blacksmith, throws his hammer in the general direction of said bard, and failing his roll by 1, hits the poor man in the face. He pays his fine to the local guard.
The news from the capital is grim- the King is dead, one of his heirs is in a coma.Â
Anyways, after I accidentally let slip that one of my players might be playing the heir, I decided to introduce a character named Reginald (affectionately called 'dickwad' until I came up with a real name) who would serve as a red herring heir. Reginald was supposed to be a flat, horrid child to make him easy to kill off, but now I feel the seeds of a more complicated plan coming through. I'll likely submit Reginald as a full character write-up.
I couldn't resist this:
Morano shakes his head. 'Mathom did not delay those he felt I should meet.'
Reginald rolls his eyes. 'There is no god of delays!'
Anyways, check in next time to see how things go and to say goodbye to Morano!

Things are shaping up nicely. Will you tell us a little about what you have planned for Reginald, or are you keeping that secret until your next post?
I'm going to do a character post for him within a few days.
Nice
