The Divine Lord- The Adoni
The Adoni is celebrated in several regions of the world, sometimes under a different name. Some of the details are different, but it is basically the same myth.
This mythology acknowledges the existance of powerful spirit beings. While some cultures would think them Gods, those that acknowledge the divine one would not.... thought they do have a piece to play in the hisotry of the world...they are just spirits.
The Adoni is celebrated in several regions of the world, sometimes under a different name. Some of the details are different, but it is basically the same myth. This is not a full religion on its own, but a mystery cult within a larger pantheonistic religion.
'Upon the lower world (material universe) the spirit flowed. There it fought the Great Dragon. From the bones of the Great Dragon was built the material universe. The Powerful Spirit Beings played with this new toy, forgetting their place in the universe.'
The Adoni was born by a mortal mother moved by the spirit. She was turned into a tree for a time by Powerful Spirit Beings. A wild boar, symbol of natural force, rubbed against her bark and the Adoni issued forth. The time was midnight on the winter solstice, a day celebrated by those that know of The Adoni.
He was raised by local priests. During his time with them, he was the one who taught them. He expressed the concept that the Human body was a perfect copy of the more complete three tiered universe. Through the study of the human form, and the perfecting their of, humanity could regain the knowledge of the higher realms. Since their enshrouded souls are truly stars/ suns, it is Humans that are the divine.
The Adoni was originally represented as an androgynous deity who represented the solar power which in the winter was destroyed by the evil principle of cold. Though a male, he had female traits (these very... but he is said to have been a very beautiful man who would often cry.) The Adoni embodied mortal power, one who could be aware of the lower realm and the two higher spiritual realms.
In the story 'died' for three months in the tomb, then rose triumphantly admist the acclamtions of his priets and followers. His death was supposedly by a boar, he was gored to death. His body was taken to its tomb, where it stood undecaying for the three months. When he returned, he continued to teach others in secret. These teachings are the great mysteries of universe and humanity's place inside of it.
Those that excell in the study of The Adoni's mysteries are said to gain supernatural powers, beyond those of mere spell casters.

I would like more information on this. Is it a defining religion? Or just a brief description about a God? Can information be added as to what aspect they are? Meaning, I see how the Adoni came about, their original purpose. But that leads me to believe things changed. What are they now, who are they now? Are they still worshiped and if so how popular is the Adoni?
This is part of a codex, One Deity Fantasy (see link). Those entries are supposed to be a write up of the diety itself. Religions are in a different thread, as there can be many religions from the same divinity. One should not confuse Diety with religion, as one God can be manifested in religion in multiple ways (See Abrahamic religions).
The Adoni is singular (see pronoun He), not a group. The Adoni is a name, much as Messiah or Supreme One, not the person's actual name.
The Adoni does not have to have a single religion, though I have presented him as such. He could be part of an extended Pantheon.
Worship? Well it depends on what you want for your current situation. It could be a mystery cult, one where true believers learn The Way of The Adoni, while publically being part of a pantheistic church (The situation in Greece and Rome). The Religion based on the Adoni could be in the position of Early Christians, where they are 'out in the open' but they are a minority view. Perhaps this early faith did not need to be antagonistic, but adapting more of its (potential) Mystery Cult roots, as a balancing supporting duel faith. The religion based on The Adoni could have surplanted the pantheistic religion, and you have a situation based upon the Late Roman Church (Then based on your politics it could be broken into several such as the break between Constananople and Rome). It could the be big dominant religion, with no other publically competing against it. There you now have six potential religions from the same God, the reason why I did not write up A religion for it.
The Adoni religion should be one of wisdom, debate, and learning, rather than one of simple faith. It is a hard religion, if one is devote, as it requires study and logic to properly execute. This could make it popular with the learned classes, but less so with the uneducated masses (if such exist). Of course, as The Adoni religion takes to the fore, there will be a move to 'educate the masses' both temporally and religiously.
If you want to talk about magic with the clerics, again the choice is yours. Every diety might still produce magic. Perhaps only The Adoni's church can produce clerical magic as we think of it. Perhaps this is a world of faith (without clerical magics), instead of a world of Obligation (Where you give your worship to the dieties so they grant you power or don't crush you). Again, up to you.
With all that explaination I have decided to up my vote. Itmakes much more sence now than it did previously.
