Samurai Rank System
A system for samurai ranks. Still having trouble with the output of this one.
Note, while based on historical titles, this particular system was never historically employed in Japan, the titles deriving from a combination of several clan-based internal hierarchies.
Koyakunin - Gate guard.
Nakakosho - Groom and/or stableman.
Tomokosho - Personal attendant.
Rusuigumi - Junior attendant.
Koshogumi - Senior attendant.
Umamawari - Third rank retainer (has the right to wear two swords).
Churo - Second rank retainer (has the right to wear two swords, and ride horse in war).
Koshogumi - First rank retainer (has the right to wear two swords, and rid horse in war & peace).
Gokenin - Household Vassal (Hatamoto - Banner Knight (Karo - Elder Councilor.
Mujo Daimyo - Lords without a castle and with a yearly income between 10,000-20,000 koku.
Joshu Daimyo - Lord of a castle.
Jun-kokushu (Tozama) Daimyo - Lords with Kunimochi-nami (Fudai) Daimyo - Lords with Kokushu (Tozama) Daimyo - Provincial lords with 100,000+ koku.
Kunimochi (Fudai) Daimyo - Provincial lords with 100,000+ koku.
Shinpan Daimyo - Lords who are relatives of the shogun.
Shogun - Generalissimo, in charge of the entire military of Japan.
Additional Terms
Tozama Daimyo - "Outside" daimyo, not allied to the shogun.
Fudai Daimyo - Hereditary daimyo who are closely allied to the shogun.
