Malhonne Tranchan
Dark eyed and sultry voiced, few men can ignore the words that spill from Malhonne's full lips. Fewer ever notice their valuables stolen as she whispers obscenity and sweetness in their ears.
Appearance:
Malhonne is of obvious mixed heritage, the cast of her eyes and the contuors of her face are not quite human. Few would guess that she was actually the product of a an orc and a human. She lacks the heavy muscle, tusks, warts and greasy hair associated with her orcish blood. Instead she has a nearly irresistable animal magnetism, the more demanding and virile orcish blood dominating the timid and sometimes thin blood of man. She is of average height, but has very eye catching hips, and breasts. This combined with her good muscle tone mark her a step above the either underfed, unyielding whores and the pampered, plump, soft slug-like courtesans.
Background:
Malhonne was raised by her father, an orc. Her mother was taken as a trophy during a border raid, and a few months after returning to the clan freehold, her father discovered one of his tent slaves was pregnant. Since he was the only who had touched her, he surmised correctly that he was the father. Malhonne's mother died during childbirth, even though her father had tried to intervene with orcish medicine.
He raised the young girl until she was nearly of age. Compared to the other female orcs, she was much more graceful, and lacked the courseness inherint to orcish kind. Many of the yonuger orcs desired her as a wife, and she recieved many gifts, and her father many challenges for her hand. Her father knew that the live of an orc-wife was not the place for her, her human side that made her desirable would not stand such treatment. The fact that he had treated her differently did not help matters any as she was disgusted by the often filthy orcs who petitioned her father with the sole interest of getting her with child as quickly and frequently as possible.
Her father sent the young girl to a nearby human city, in the care of another half orc, along with a measure of treasure to set herself up properly in the new city. The half-orc stole the money, and escaped, leaving Malhonne completely destitute in a strange place.
She found herself in a new situation. The men were much cleaner, and they had gold in their pockets, and they were not so cautious as the orcs were. Thieves among the orcs were often hacked to bits for the audacity of trying to take by guile what they should have tried to take by honest force. These human men lost themselves in the throes of passion while she was able to easily steal their valuables. Most never noticed they were even gone, even when they were robbed more than once.
Malhonne now lives as a freelance thief in the city. Her half blooded nature makes her an outsider in the moderately racist Thieves Guild. (Moderate in that they openly dispise her, and refuse her membership, but not extreme in that they are hunting her down to kill her for her mixed blood) She makes a comfortable living in the trading of information, and robbing men who come to her for her strong feminine charms.
Roleplaying Notes:
Malhonne is a strong and self-sure woman. When she has to play the submissive to get what she wants, she is willing to do so, but only for a time. She is much more interested in crashing the parties, and drinking the expensive wine. Sometimes she dresses like a man and goes out looking for fights and other times she wears next to nothing for the shock value and the extra gold she gets for that one last peak. Life among the orcs is often brutal and celebrating life is a daily thing. Malhonne lives in this manner because despite her skill, her wild and dangerous ways make each nay possibly her last. (Slight exaggeration, but you get the idea.)
Plot Hooks
Standard Thief Hooks - Malhonne has something the PCs need, perhaps a piece of information or a map taken from a careless courier who stopped for a bit of fun. The PCs have to get it from her somehow.
Daddy Dearest - Having had a change of heart, Malhonne's father, the orc chieftan (SURPRISE!) has decided that he wants his baby girl back. Orcs have begun raiding the town looking for her, but as an experienced thief she vanishes with ease and has no idea why the orcs are raiding.

Half-breeds do often get the bost out of their parent races - see mongrel dogs, who are frequently smarter and healthier than either of their parents.
Likewise, amongst humans, exceptional results may be born where blood mixes, so why not in fantasy?
I will use Malhonne in my current campaing... she fits perfectly.
Thus a 5/5 from me.
A side thought - how would a dwarf/elf look?

I am reminded of a tale from the American Revolution where a young woman... ummm... plyed her charms against an English General. She was an American spy and was both passing information on AND keeping the English general occupied when he should of been out on campaign.
If some of her customers are 'men of importance', she could pass on intelligence to the Orcish nation. In addition, should the Humans try and 'wipe out the Orcish threat', she could work the same kind of 'charm' and do more damage to the Human Campaign than a mob of Orcish warriors.

I do not have an opinion on this character, but I do have an opinion on the latest comments:
A roleplaying setting could be much like the real world. I do not know about you guys, you might be puritans or activists for the rights of females, but in this world there are alot of sluts, whores, dirty old men with lewd comments and so on. I see no reason why such characters should not exist in a fantasy setting too. Yes, she is a slut. So what?
I'd wager people like her because they see the contrast between being a half-orc and not being totally disfigured (as most half orcs are wont to be). A half orc that could serve as a spy, an assassin, a thief, a whore, a slut... She opens up new possibilities to the boring and cliched half-orc pattern (zugzug, me KILL). Many plots can conceivably be built around her as opposed to the heavy chested standard fantasy litterature cover girl.
I say: Cleavage for the sake of cleavage could be bad. 'Cleavage with a cause' can be good.
(And, BH, wherever did you read that she was a better fighter than men? Did you accidentally read about Red Sonja before posting?)

Tell me. I've got two colleagues I really like, the're both smart girls with great character, yet: one of them is rather homely, and the other one of elfin beauty.
Now I'm a rather reasonable guy, not driven by my hormones 100% of the time, but: guess whom I lend my books more often, offer to learn with her and even help shopping... Bingo.
The homely one must feel a little left out.

Yes, her half orc side is a decent background,and the plots could be intruging, but I have seen to many sluts that will just abandon you after they get enough money. Example: In KOTOR1, in the cantina in Taris a slutty women says if you buy her a 20 credit beer you'll get laid. To my unsurprised dismay, she ditched me for a rich guy. See what I mean? And thats just one instance.

I'm really not sure to make of Dragoon's comment. It is my understanding that a slut is commonly percieved to be a woman who is willing to exchange sex for various things, mostly the attention of men. Most 'sluts' would seem to suffer from poor self-esteem and gain a sense of welf worth in the attention favored on them by their male peers. Some, are simply not intimidated by the title slut, which is often applied to any woman who seems to get more of anything that others think she should. Now, if the exchange is exclusively material, or currency, then the woman is not a slut, but is instead a whore, or more politely prostitute. Thus, it is not surprising that she ditched the regular guy in favor of the rich guy, the promise of higher returns for her services.
The thing that surprises me is that many people substitute game events for real life experiences. A co-worker regularly espouses his nightly games of Madden 2K5 as if he himself were actually on the football field, kicking and recieving each play. Is this a call sign of Gen Y?
The 'value' of Malhonne should not be judged based on whether we like her character or not, but instead by asking the question: how worthy is she as an addition to my game?
Every NPC hereis a GM tool. Of course that most of the visitors of this page have had or will have a bad experience with a 'slut' they fell/fall for - but that does not concern this post. Of course her character is flawed - but then, we'd not be able to post any villains here if we posted only characters whose personality we like.
...except for the villains we happen to like in some way, those that can be understood (not necessarily excused). Malhonne is not a villain, she tries to have a good life, ignoring the customs and morals of humans.
We may argue on the morals of this woman, or other women... but just see how many comments this character has generated. ;)
Hmmmm....thats true. She is a good character I suppose, slut/hore/prostitute aside. I personally have seen too many of these characters but in te sake of gameplay expeirience she would bea great character. I still cant believe this NPC generated so many comments.
