Following the advent of the FTL travel and reliable long range power cores, the Earth Alliance navy was split into three branches, the Earth Alliance Space Navy (EASN) the Earth Alliance Planetary Gaurd (EAPG) and the Earth Alliance Space Probe Agency (EASPA). While the roles of the EASN and the EAPG were easily defined as almost purely combative in nature, the EASPA required mor precision and much less firepower.

Director Fitzpatrick
The early years of the EASPA were piggy-backed onto the larger budget of the EASN, with the EASPA picking up decommissioned space navy ships and converting them at some expense to serve as Exploratory Cruisers. The Agency's second director, Fitzpatrick, made a motion to move the headquarters for the EASPA out of the city that was host to the EASN and EAPG top brass. While there was some resistance, the military types were not sad to see the brainiacs and simpering exobiologists leave. The more scientific minded Agency members shed few tears as they departed from their military grade barracks and cramped facilities.

Epsilon Centauri
The EASPA found a colony willing to subsidize their headquarters as well as bask in the benefits of Earth Alliance scientific grants and contracts. Epsilon Centauri was a minor colony at that time, but with the addition of some 50,000 EASPA personel on planet at almost twice that number rotating through on their agency cruisers, the colony boomed. A shipyard was quickly assembed for servicing Agency cruisers, while planetside resorts and dives grew in equal number to accommodate the desires of often space-weary travelers.

Director Fitzpatrick was elected to no fewer than six terms as planetary governer, and during his tenure, the Agency fleet grew from two dozen retired cruisers and destroyers to a true fleet of three dozen dedicated long duration cruisers and twice that number in smaller more specialized vessels. Between the open-mindedness of the original settlers and the idealism common among EASPA personnel, Epsilon Centauri is one of the most liberal worlds in Terran space and has the fewest restrictions on personal freedoms, but is also one of the least armed of the Terran worlds.

New San Francisco
The defacto capital of Epsilon Centauri, New San Francisco is home to nearly half a million people, the EASPA headquarters and the University of Centaurus~Epsilon campus site. The library at UCE is said to be the modern incarnation of the Library of Alexandria of antiquity.

1. The Great Repository
Epsilon Centauri, often called Fitzpatrick's World, has more information than any other world in Terran space. Unfortunately, not all of that information has been made available on subspace broadcast and the PCs, needing relevant information must travel to Fitzpatrick's world to dig into hardcopy records to find their information. This is certainly better for ship records over a century old, or other old or obscure information.

2. The Academy
Exobioloy, translinguistic studies, variable hyperspace mechanics, few universities offer as wide a variety of courses and UCE. This emphasis on things outside of human domains and the idealism inherent in much of the teachings has earned UCE the nick-name of Starfleet Academy. While picking up a few wet behind the ears space rookies might not seem like a great idea, but where else can a captain looking for a third year warp core technician, a translator fluent in Nempori, and a ship's cook versed in thai cuisine in one place?

3. Cochrane Ship-Yards
Orbiting high above Fitzpatrick's World, the Cochrane ship yards began as orbital dry-docks for cruiser maintenance, but in the years past, it grew. Now the Ship yards house nearly 30,000 people in pressurized enviroments and do everything from routine maintenance to special build orders for one of a kind scientific vessels. An enigma among the ship-yards is Station 8. In reality, Station 8 is attached to the Earth Alliance Black Ops and is the naval yard responsible for building and maintaining the small fleet of Intelligence ships used by the EASN. Seems some years ago, outside of weapons and engine output, the EASPA surpassed the EASN in technological progress.
