7 Waters
Seven different types of water that may be of use- or a danger- to adventurers.
1-Holy Water
Holy water is water that has been blessed by a priest or a priestess of a religion that is Good or Neutral. How much or how little power it has depends upon your world setting. Generally, Holy Waters can be used to harm the Undead, burning them on contact, as well as a barrier when sprinkled around yourself or an object, at least until it dies.
Depending on the God or Goddess whose priest or priestess has blessed it, it might have other powers too. A Goddess of Love might bless her holy water with the strength of a love potion for example. Some holy waters might lose their magic if drunk or sprinkled by an atheist.
2-Unholy Water
Unholy Water is in effect Holy Water for demon worshippers and “Evil” religions. Rather then harming the Undead, it strengthens them, and rather then blocking the Undead it blocks Holy Paludins from entering an area until it dries. Depending on the God or Goddess whose priest or priestess has blessed it m it might have other powers too, like boosting the ability to raise the dead or to con other people.
If a Good or Neutral religion has been perverted by its leaders and turned Evil, which, for example it might do if it’s believers burned large numbers of innocent people at the stake, then its Holy Water would degenerate into Unholy Water. Also, if a priest or priestess tries to use another religion’s holy water whilst believing that the other religion is either Evil or backward, then in their hands it would turn into unholy water.
3-Heavy Water
Heavy Water is a kind of water that is of use in making nuclear bombs. Perhaps the PCs are trying to destroy it or sink the boat that it is being carried on so that it cannot fall into the hands of an Evil regime.
4-Sunwater
Sunwater is found in a large deep pool in the Sorcery Springs Geyser Basin that by night is pleasantly cool and perfect for swimming, but heats up to boiling point rapidly when directly exposed to sunlight. It is safe to drink, as sunlight cannot penetrate a person or animals body, but you don’t want to try and swim in it or wash yourself with it when exposed to sunlight.
5-Deadwater
Deadwater comes from a certain deep lake in which a certain tribe has been depositing their dead for a very long time, fouling the water with both necrogen and the bacteria from the many, many dead bodies down there. It tastes like normal water so can easily be slipped into drinks and soups and is a potent poison, killing whoever makes the mistake or drinking it within hours or days, or at the least making the imbiber very ill indeed.
6-Firewater
Firewater is water that has been mixed with certain highly secret ingredients to make it flammable when a flame is applied to it and is used in a flamethrower owned by certain military units. Perhaps the PCs are spies who are trying to steal one of these flamethrowers from a military base. Unlike Sunwater, Firewater is a poison if drunk.
7-Desiccated Water
Desiccated Water is water that has been magically dried out by skilled hydromancers and a cup of normal water is enough to turn up to six feet of it back into perfectly safe and drinkable water. It weighs only half the weight of normal water until mixed with water when it gets its normal weight back.
