1-The Boaster

He has boasted about entering every major or minor dungeon in the area, and even defeating one or two dungeon cores, but it’s all empty lies, and he has never entered , legally or otherwise, any dungeon in his life. Now his tongue has caught up with him, and a large crowd of people are waiting for him to enter the Livingstone dungeon, the second largest and second most dangerous dungeon in the world after the Gygaxian Gyre. He will very likely perish within it’s walls, and is being watched too closely by his fans to sneak away.

2-The Debtor

Thrown into prison for debt that he was unable to pay, he was offered his release if he enters the Livingstone dungeon and gains enough treasures from it’s depths to pay his creditors the money that they are owed. He doubts he will survive if he does that, but the alternative is being chained up and locked in a prison cell indefinitely, as he has no other way to pay his debts.

3-The Necromancer

A mage specialising in the forbidden art of necromancy, he intends to use this magic when dungeoneering, not knowing that dungeons are harmed by this and will react with a very heavy hand and mobilise everything they have against those who cast such spells within them until the threat is throughly removed.

4-The Tale Teller

He’s not a snitch, but a veteran of many dungeon delves and has many often slightly tall tales to tell, and is very entertaining in the way that he tells them. He’s no bard but he has a good singing voice too, and is popular in the town that he lives in. He has several healed scars from wounds inflicted on him by various dungeon denizens that he has fought in the past, but he considers himself too old to carry on dungeoneering any more.

5-PTSD

He went down a dungeon with ten others and was the only one to make it out alive. He doesn’t want to say exactly what happened down there in the dungeon, but whatever it was, it was nothing nice. He refuses ever to enter a dungeon again, even a small newly formed one.

6-Suicidal

He, for reasons of his own, wants to die, but if he commits suicide his goods and house will be forfeited to the state, and his body will be staked like a vampire and buried at a crossroads, and his family will be disinherited and disgraced. So he has decided to enter a very large and powerful dungeon and just keep going until he dies in its depths. His death won’t be recorded as a suicide and his family can inherit from him as normal, and avoid public shame.

7-Trespasser

Established dungeons that are known about have legally known entry points that are guarded. This lets the local town or city collect taxes on what the successful adventurers bring up, normally keeps most underage people or obvious no- hopers out of said dungeons- too high an adventurer death rate could put people off entering and lower the tax revenue-and is a line of defence if the dungeon ever goes feral and attacks the town.

This adventurer is looking for an illegal way in to avoid paying taxes, and is likely to get himself killed rather than getting rich.

And as a bonus-8-The Alfred Packer

He went down with five friends into the Livingstone dungeon and he was the only one to get out of there alive. Apparently, they got lost , ran out of food, and one snapped with hunger and attacked and killed the others to eat their bodies, Packer then killing him in self defence and eating human flesh until he got out of there. Many of the townspeople did not believe his story, and he is now on trial for his life, accused of murdering the other five to steal their shares of the treasure that they had taken in the dungeon.
